Hey all..
Just bought a new stereo for the car.. Took out the old one..
Cut the orange and red wires on the new one, swapped them over for the memory.. Plugged it in and it worked no problems.
Put a cd in.. it powered off (the aerial went down) and nothing since..
I've checked the fuses.. The stereo's inline was broken, replaced that checked the one under the bonnet and thats ok.. Any other ideas?
Also put back in my old stereo to test which no longer has power either??

I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!

Have you tried a tester to see if there is any power to the live feed? So is there still permenant power for the constant memory? If you test the power feed and there is nothing it sounds like there has been a break in the line somewhere. If this is the case try and find another suitable feed. The worry is why has the fuse blown in the first place.
Also have you checked the rear of the stereo, there is usually a fuse in the rear as well as inline fuse.
Hope this helps..I hate electrics!!0 -
I had a similar problem today, took out my remote locking as well! in the end it was the locking fuse that had gone, and that also controlled the radio0

I recommend you locate a discussion forum for your make of car. Be sure to state which model, engine size etc. you have. Also the make and model number of the radio/CD head unit.
For Vauxhall/Opel owners, this forum may be useful:
