Fair price to fit new gas valve???

My Baxi Solo 3 PFL 40 which is 6 years old broke down yesterday and the guy I called out is getting a new gas valve as he says that is what is wrong.
So what is a fair price to pay for the two visits plus the new valve?

Did you not ask him what the cost would be when he diagnosed the problem....it seems from your post as if you have already called him out and he has identified the fault,is collecting the part and waiting to fit it.....in my mind its a little too late to be asking what a fair price for the job should be.....

or maybe I've misread the post...

Thanks, the part has now ben fitted and all OK, very professional, did a leak test before and after. Just waiting for the bill as the guy who came and fitted the part was an employee. Will post the cost when bill arrives for others to compare.

Valves about £80 and the labour / fault diagnosis is probably another £80 so i would not be surprised if you receive a bill for around £160.
  • an employee, means a company rather than a one man band, i bet the bill is higher than any of you have said
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

My price would be £190 + VAT all in. That allows for a first visit to diagnose and then return to replace.

    See how that compares.
