New: link your nectar account to Ebay for automatic points + triple points til 28 Oct

Sorry if already posted but I couldn't see it.

I had an email from Necar saying that you can now link your nectar account with Ebay so that points are automatically awarded on all eligible purchases (not sales though). So you now don't need to go through Nectar to Ebay to get your points.

Also triple points until 28th October:

This is the link to register:
http://rewards.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?RewardsCobranded

This is the small print from the triple points offer:
  • To collect Nectar points you need to link your eBay.co.uk and Nectar accounts and checkout with PayPal.
  • You will receive triple Nectar points on any eligible items purchased between 15 October 2012 and 28 October 2012. Points will be automatically awarded to the linked Nectar account.
  • There is no cash alternative and the offer is not transferable.
  • You normally collect 1 point for every £1 spent. During this promotion, you will collect 3 points for every £1 spent.
  • Points are calculated per item and not on the total purchase price, except when buying from the same seller.
  • Points are calculated according to the actual amount spent on the item. If vouchers or any other discounts are used, the points will be calculated after the discount is applied. Any amount spent on postage & packaging or any taxes not included in the item price will not be taken into consideration.
  • You can collect up to 5,000 points per item. This limit also applies to bonus points promotions but is increased in line with the promotion. If you buy an item for £6,000.00 (and so would collect a maximum of 5,000 base Nectar points), you will receive 15,000 points under this triple Nectar points promotion.
  • If you receive a refund for any reason, the awarded points will be withdrawn.
  • Certain items or sellers may be ineligible for Nectar points. eBay reserves the right to rescind points issued in error.
  • eBay reserves the right to change or cancel this offer at any time, in the event of circumstances arising which in eBay's opinion make it necessary for it to do so.
  • eBay's decision is final in all cases and no communication will be entered into.
  • The law of England and Wales governs this promotion.
  • Check out the full terms and conditions for the Nectar programme on eBay.

Yes, that is the question - will it wipe out cashback?

TCB rep has answered over on the referers board, they are aware of the offer and promise to report once they know.

The vast majority of my ebay purchases are from powersellers/shops and I make a tiny amount of cashback, although still a lot more than .5% (and indeed 1.5% until end of month.)

If they can't offer both on the same purchase then nectar are only worth using on non qualifying categories (which was already possible by clicking from nectar site.) Am I the only one who fears this may be the end of ebay cashback?

Most of the things I buy on eBay don't qualify for cashback, so am pleased to get something back now!
  • Hi guys,

We have received clarification on this, and we can confirm that you can get cashback and Nectar points from eBay on the same purchase. Applying for the Nectar points will not invalidate your cashback.

I am glad that I have been able to get back to you with this good news!

    Have a good evening.

    Yay, good news!

Good news - it never seemed worth the hassle going through the nectar site.

I know they say you can claim cashback too - but will they eventually pull out of cashback? They have before.

As mentioned above - Am I the only one who fears this may be the end of ebay cashback? From their point of view nectar must be a good pull for the site - fingers crossed we get to get them both.

I have linked my ebay account.
Can we still go through the nectar site for EXTRA points or will the linked account block that?
In a way I'll be glad not to keep clearing browser history, clicking through site, waiting an AGE to get through and most annoyingly having to start all over again for each purchase.

Do you have to go to Ebay via the Nectar website every time you buy something in order to get the points?
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

No, just go onto eBay and link your Nectar Card. Takes a day or two to all go through.

Thereafter just go onto Ebay through google, bookmark etc and shop, points will be added automatically.
