Slow e-mails.........please help !

Whenever I send e-mails they arrive at their destination almost immediately.
I've tried this out as I've been speaking to the recipient on the phone, even to Canada and America.
But, Ive also tried it the other way around, asking them to send them and seeing how long they take, and they are extremely slow, sometimes taking a few hours to arrive.
I'm not very computer literate, so if you can help, can you make it fairly simple language please.
I'm with Onetel broadband, and I'm using Outlook Express 6.
I used to be with Pipex and I don't think that I had that problem with them, but can't be sure as I didn't e- mail much then.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

There is nothing you can do, I doubt a problem exist but if it does it will be with your ISP. If you are checking the account regularly and nothing is on the server, well, there is nowt you can do. On occasions I've sent a couple of emails to myself, of equal size and at the same time, one will arrive immediately, but the other can be 2 or 3 minutes later. This doesn't happen every time, but does now and then. And I'm with Pipex.:o0

open Outlook Express and click on "tools" then "Options" on the drop down menu
It should open a new screen and be on the "General "tab when it opens, if you look under the Send/Receive settings there is one for Check For New messages every 30 Minutes, change the setting in the box to 1 minute and it will then check for new emails every minute !!Ex forum ambassador
