B Gas ended DD discount

Is it my imagination or have British Gas abolished their £10 a quarter Direct Debit discount for any and all new tariffs. I've had a quick look at some of their new tariffs and there seems to be no sign of it, anyone else spotted this or is it just me suffering BG paranoia.

Tariffs come & go all the time, so I wouldn't be surprised of such a change.

Campaigners demanded simple tariffs, BG and the other suppliers are happy to oblige by removing their cheapest ones.

To be fair even Head Honcho Phil Bentley admitted that they were previously ripping off their loyal standard tariff customers to fund the super duper short term 'let's get to the top of the switching sites' online tariffs (he may not have said it quite like this btw, I'm paraphrasing). The system we have now is probably more equitable for the majority but of course us rate tarts are losing out big time.

The new tariffs which have a standing charge have the DD discount incorporated in the prices. Rather than a capped discount of, eg. £65 per year this is now a 6% reduction the standing charge and unit price.

If, for example you are on Clear and Simple and pay by DD but then cancel the DD you start to pay 6% more.
