Re: Confused is this right what they are doing?

I called for a quote today from I broker I guess I was put through to. (To cut a long story short) they gave a bloody good price. I called the other insurer they got the rate from and it was more than double?
I called them back as I had never heard of them and the man said yeah it looks like we've given you a no claims bonus. I explained to him I had no proof as I hadn't been driving and he said no it doesn't matter they instantly give it to you depending on how long you've held your driving license.

So stupid question you may ask, I'm being offered wicked rate but I'm worried this doesn't sound legit or do I just have to trust 'em?! Sorry but insurance confuses the hell out of me!

Any ideas?

  • You're right it doesn't sound legit at all.

But double check with other companies to see if they'll also give you a mysterious NCB.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Get another quote and compare if it is in line with the non-wicked one, you have your answer!
  • Thats it mate all the others are double. I've called twice and they say they have an agreement in place with the insurer but the insurer don't know anything about it and can't do the same price?

Brokers often have an Insurer who they have a lot of business with who give them descretion to discount or allow no claims bonus to certain clients. The Insurer monitors the performance of the brokers account and if it hits certain targets generally amount of premium going through account and most important overall profit eg the Insurer makes money after paying claims out over the year.

I would suggest you ask the broker to confirm the quote in writing, you can then see what basis they've quoted it on and if they require you to forward no claims bonus

Not one of these brokers with a quickly setup website who will vanish the instant you complain because your insurer cancelled your policy for giving false details is it?

Male, Racing driver/Celebrity TV personality, Supercharged modified supercar, Hish risk London postcode parked on the street, 50,000 miles a year, Zero no claims.

Which they put through the system as a Vicar with a 20 year ols nissan micra living in a leafy village doing 500 miles a year to visit sick people. Parked in a high security garage with cameras and alarmed, With 30 years no claims

When your insurance query the postal address being London they cancel the policy leaving you uninsured and having to declare having a policy cancelled.

The broker vanishes.. Next day a new website appears with a slightly different name.
