Victorian Doors Help

Help required please.
Have replaced all of the door handles in my house with reproduction beehive type victorian handles.
Now looking to put handles on the cupboard doors and would like to put the same door handles on these too. Issue is that the door handle needs to connect to a handle on the other side to stay in place.
The handles are quite expensive so dont want to use two on a cupboard door so can anyone offer any suggestions for keeping the room facing handle in place please?
Had thought I could just use a cheap handle on the inside but would rather have something that sits a bit more flush with the inside of the door to hold everything in place.
Any suggestions?

Not following, when you say they need to connect to a handle on the other side...?
Can't you just screw them on, and have them operating as knobs?0
