Do I have a case?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice.

I have had quite a few bits of debt over the last year or so, stuff like unpaid mobile bills as I lost my job - which lead to me getting an early termination fee added on which landed me with £1300 of debt and other stuff as well.

I got a bank charge from RBS which I had no money to pay with which then lead on to a good few months of bank charges - one month of £98 next month £87 then another at £117 same goes for about 5/6 months (I am currently waiting for full statements to be sent to me) but then I got a job which gave me some income - however it was a 0 hour contract so I was not guaranteed hours. I also had multiple debt companies contacting me numerous ways looking for money which I paid them, but wasn't paying the bank. However I paid it all off in 2 lump sums and then closed the account.

Would you say I have cause for a reclaim of bank charges? The bank charges were being in an unplanned overdraft of around £20 for 2 days which then lead to an £60 bank charge which I was unable to pay then snowballed.

Looking about roughly £1000 of bank charges within a one year period.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated, I will be able to answer any questions if you have any!

thanks :)

no. You are not in current financial hardship. So, you do not meet the criteria on that front. It is not a first time mistake either. So, you have no goodwill refund due there. You also closed the account. So, the bank has no goodwill to offer you.

You can ask them but you would be totally reliant on their goodwill. If you get someone on a good day and takes sympathy on you then you may get lucky but as you are not in hardship currently and the account is closed, you shouldnt get your hopes up.

No. Financial hardship relates to the current position.
