Hi
My sister has a barclaycard which is in credit by approx £850.
She has a 0% balance transfer on her card and wants to utilise this. She wants to transfer a balance of £1500 approx.
However we cannot figure out if she transfered £1500 whilst the card was in credit would the 0% balance transfer be for the £1500 or £650 - hope this makes sense. We are guessing it will be for the £650 but hoping it be for the £1500!
Thanks

It would be for £650. Call them first and ask them to return the £850 by cheque or BACS, then wait for it to be removed from the BC account before doing the transfer.0

a little unclear but maybe you mean your sister has two CCs.
she wished to transfer a debt of 1,500 from her other CC to the barclaycard
so yes she can
the other card will show a debt of 1,500 less than now
and her barclaycard will show a debt of 1,500 - 850 = debt of 650EU tariff on agricultual product 12.2%

Not sure what you mean. There's no way to get the benefit of a 0% rate on more than you actually owe. When the transfer is charged to the account, the credit will be absorbed into it as if it were a payment. What's the alternative? However we cannot figure out if she transfered £1500 whilst the card was in credit would the 0% balance transfer be for the £1500 or £650 - hope this makes sense. The main point at issue is whether they charge the transfer fee on the whole £1500 that they pay out, even though the greater part of it is your money not theirs. But you'll be hoping they don't."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
Apologises if I wasn't clear.
Main points are:-
1) Barclaycard are offering my sister a 0% balance transfer offer
2) She wants to take advantage of this by moving £1500 off another card
3) Her balance on her barclaycard currently is £850 in credit (they owe her £850).
Guesswho2000 has stated it right that my sister needs to firstly get Barclaycard to refund her the £850 so her balance is at zero before any balance transfer is done.

You don't need to get the positive balance transfered out to do the balance transfer.
But, think about it....
Get that £850 transfered to a bank account, and then pay that £850 onto the other card. BEFORE MAKING THE BALANCE TRANSFER.
Will mean less of a transfer charge :T
I'll let you work out the diffrence between £1500 & £650 in charges.
