Adding more memory and new GC

I have a intel pentium 4 3.06GHZ, 32 bit operating system with 2GB of Ram, I am running Windows Vista. Yes the pc is quite oldish but at the moment it has to make do for me. I do not play pc games as such so im not really bothered about all that. My graphics card is a NVidia 6200.
I have seen 2 ddr memory sticks on ebay, 4 gig each (8gig total) can i simply get them and swap my 2, 1 gig sticks? If so would I see any difference in performance?
Also Maybe I would like to put in a better graphics card. So for my machine what would be suitable for better graphic card performance. I really only play online golf.
any help/advise on these 2 issues please

I doubt you'd notice any difference whatsoever, if it's slow, backup data, reinstall windows!!

its not slow really but I like to add bits if I can and update things. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
More than 4GB of RAM on a 32bit system will be wasted.0

Downgrade to XP or upgrade to Windows 7. Either way, you'll see better performance than Vista gives.
Also, use the Crucial Memory advisor at www.crucial.com. It will tell you what slots the machine has and what they can take. But, as already said, a 32 bit operating system won't recognise any memory above 4Gb.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Your NVidia 6200 is fine for online golf.
In all likelihood your graphics card is AGP so it's not worth buying a new one in any case. You could splash out twice the price on a slightly better AGP card than a PCI-E equivalent but then you would not be able to use the new gpu in an upgrade.
If you like to add bits and update, do some more research. Save the pennies for a new motherboard, cpu, gpu, RAM and psu - you may be able to reuse the case!604!0 -
launch the game in your browser, then see how much ram it uses in task manager, it won't be anywhere near what you have installed already.!!
