Help with Jsa incom based?

Hi, was wondering if anyone could help me please. I have been working 17 hours a week and my job has just cut me down to 15 hours a week as they are struggling to find the hours for all the staff with the present climate, I have been looking for another job now for months and have been struggling My partner is unemployed at the moment and he is also looking for work. I was worried has my earning are now only only £91 a week . I rung the jobcentre to ask if I handed my notice in at work because we are struggling would I get sanctioned if I wanted to claim income based Jsa. They said yes but told me I could hand it in but my partner would have to claim has hes looking for work anyway and I could go on his claim and they wouldnt sanction us has it would be his claim and because we have a 7 year old I could be the stay at home mum. Does anyone Know if this is true? Thanks in advance.

if you work less than 16 hours you can still claim JSA but they take all but the first £5 off you.

If that is what you have been told it sounds right to me as someone needs to look after the child.

There is a rule also that they can not make you work for a job that will make you worse off.

It might be better to try and find another few hours cleaning etc to get your hours up to 24 or 26 (cant rember which) for child tax crdits or working tax credits, it seems daft to give up a job for the sake a an hour or so.

I agree that it would be foolish to give up your job in this financial climate when your husband's unemployed as well. if you can find another job for 9 hours a week (or the same number of hours self employed) then you can claim WTC which will help a great deal.
