Monthly Pay And Temp Insurance

Currently a 24 year old male turn 25 in july meaning my insurance will change.
I have been told i should look into getting temp 6 month insurance cover or to do monthly payments instead.
I have also been told to try using a tracker system but have found they the quotes i get to be more then a standard insurance.
Which would really be the best choice i know monthly payments add extra to the total cost and i have never actually heard of 6 month insurance cover.

Reaching 25 doesn't make much difference to the premium.
It does mean that the extra compulsory excess for under 25s isn't payable, but that refers to the age at the date of the claim, not the age at the date the policy started.
Taking a policy out and cancelling after 6 months is unlikely to be cost effective:-
Cancellation fees will probably be more than any premium saving
You will "lose" 6 months towards another year's NCD.0
