Parents having problem with their freesat signal - Can anyone help ?

Hi all,

Many thanks for all of your helpful advice.

However, after speaking to my parents last night, I have got something slightly wrong in my OP. I stated originally that 'the picture and the sound on the TV freezes'. However, this is incorrect.

The picture is fine. However, the sound will intermittently just go quiet or even stop for a period of time. I don't know whether this changes peoples views and advice.

For info, the TV in the main room is working fine connected to the Sky dish.

Anyway I have suggested that they speak to the retailer to see whether they can borrow a second hand TV to prove whether it is the TV or not. Not too sure if they will be willing but worth a go.

Yes it does.

If the picture is fine then that probably rules out problems with the dish, LNB and cabling.

That leaves the Goodmans box, the SCART cable and sockets or the TV as possible culprits.

Did the retailer check anything yesterday?

We had a freesat box installed and we found that our picture freezes for a second or two when the heater thermostat turns on and off which is plugged into the other part of the electric socket on the wall
