Allergic dermatitis - despite using non bio washing powder?

First off ditch the conditioner and halve the amount of detergent you use. Add in an extra rinse if you can. It's not just the detergent residue or the enzymes it's the fragrance and colouring as well.
Change brand. I haven't been able to use a biological washing liquid/powder for 30+ years, reacted every time (especially in the knicker area LOL) but I've just discovered Method. It's expensive but it gives me another option.
See another GP. DS2's dad had a similar problem with a steadily growing rash and it turned out to be an unusual skin condition - but only identified when his GP asked him to make an appointment with another GP in the practice who specialised in skin conditions.
Funnily I have a similar problem with washing up liquid - I even react differently to the varieties of 'fairy'. One 'fragrance' made me upheave.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Been using fairy non bio for years. Recently over last year and abit couple of members of family started to get contact dermatitis with rash etc. Now swicthed to ecover washing liquid and the dermatitis is going away.
Seems something in couple of major non bio powder brands is an irritant0 -
One other suggestion (don't think it's been mentioned already) is Dri-Pak liquid soapflakes (available in supermarkets and online). My DD has eczema and we've struggled to find a definite cause so have been trying anything we could think of that might possibly help. I also use Ecover fabric conditioner and so far she's been fine. No idea how to post a link but have copied and pasted this anyway!! www.dri-pak.co.uk/liquid-soap-for-laundry.html0

thanks for the link, I didn't know you could put soap flakes in the washing machine, I thought it caused too much foam and lather!0

I've never noticed a problem with extra foam, I put a capful in for a full load which seems to be OK.0
