That's because modern rust traps are all hidden behind plastic trim, so you don't see the rust till the MOT man fails it. They look great till they fall apart
Last figures I saw were around 2008 where something like 1 in 15 test failures involved structural corrosion and almost 1 in 3 included body corrosion.
Modern cars still rust - ask anyone who's ever looked underneath a shiny-looking Ka!0 -
Why not just get rid of it instead of kidding yourself you're going to fix it. Three years is a long time, you would have done it by now if you were going to
Ah no, this is thee car that I hunted for for over a year. It's not going anywhere now
Seriously it was running last year but I didn't get it road legal and then something electrical went wrong. What with the washout of a summer I couldn't be bothered to go and strip the thing down (autobox has a fault internally) so decided to wait until next year. Besides I've put a lot of effort into that car and finding optional gadgets etc.
People keep cars for years before doing anything with them. I believe I still have a right to do that don't I?
If you think I'm bad, my neighbour has a VW that is almost a shell of rust yet refuses to let it go. Thats his choice and I respect it. He bought it, it's his property and if he wants to keep it like that then thats his choice.0 -
