It's not always the knife that is the problem. I found that when I used a glass cutting board I would have to sharpen my knife every time I used it. I now use a plastic cutting board. The amount you pay for your knives is not necessarily indicative of their life. I just came back from the USA, whilst there I went shopping in the Dollar Stores and picked up 4 utility knives for One Dollar and they are so sharpe it's scarey!0
