Travelodge have a £19 a night room promotion on at the moment so I've been exploring the site for a one night escape and found this one.

Other reviews mention bunnies in the surrounding grounds so I think DH and I will enjoy it. Although we didn't see any £19 rooms we got one for £24 and it looks like Bishops Stortford is very close for an evening meal.
If anyone is looking for Essex/East london Travelodges, Snaresbrook is rather different too, not like yer average Travelodge at all, being a part of the Innkeeper chain originaly and presumably that is why the decor is so different. There is a nice pub next door, lots of good eateries in Wanstead and a part of Epping Forest to explore the other side of the main road.
If you are new to Travelodge, remember they are really mean with towel and pillow allocation but if you ask (in my experience anyway) they will give you more.

Indeed there are some good eateries in Wanstead, but that's about 40 minutes away from Birchanger, even with a clear run down the M11.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Ah yes, I meant if you were in Snaresbrook you could eat in Wanstead - sorry about the confusion.

we have just come back from Essex as was up there for my husband's medal parade in the nearest town, this travel lodge is by far the best we have stayed in, your right About the bunnies, we pulled up in the car and there they were hopping around on the grass area in front of us, my little one was ecstatic and did not want to move from the car. We got in and went up to our room and it was immaculate. It's a big travel lodge, We eat there in the adjoining restaurant in the night, food was basic but nice, bottle of wine was reasonable. They even let us take our glasses up to the room when the kids wanted to go to sleep and we still had half a bottle left. They were all friendly and nice and I could not fault them, we paid 42 quid for the room with unlimited breakfast in the morning, there were muffins, cereals, orange juice, coffee machine and choice of full English breakfast. Will defiantly stay there again if up the way in the future x'There are far better things ahead Than any we leave behind '0
