Giving up home to go to uni

in House buying, renting & selling
IS it possible to keep my HA flat whilst I'm away at uni in a different city? I'm eligible to claim HB but unsure if I can do that if I have to live else where due to studying in a different city? I don't know if double HB is only for emergency situations.

Any advice appreciated.

    Welcome! :) Social housing is intended to be your main or only home, if you move away or have another home you no longer need it. It's worth reading your tenancy agreement. Full time students are not usually eligible for housing benefit at all.

    Hi there

    I am eligible for housing benefit because of my circumstances. My degree course is in a different city to my home and isn't practical to travel to and fro to university because of the distance. I just want to know the situation re claiming double Housing benefit.
