Fitting laminate around fireplace?

So,my new house has a fire place (ugly one that I'll retile at some point!) and as I'm decorating and putting new flooring in after ripping up the worlds most grotesque carpet,I'm wondering how to fit the laminate around the fireplace?
Obviously,I can't just have a bare expansion gap between the flooring and hearth and it's a protruding one so needs to go round the sides too.
What sort of 'trim' should I use and how do I fit it there?

scotia, its made for finishing off around skirting (if it hasn't been removed before fitting) and around the fireplace

i have known one person who used a black silicone to fill in the gap cos they didn't want scotia, and apparently it looks well but i haven't seen it0 -
i guess you are using "trim" around the rest of the room or are you going under the skirting boards ? just use the same around the fire so it all matches, just remember not to go under the fire but from your post it sounds like you have a hearthI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
I don't use trim. I cut the gap round the hearth to about 5mm max then fill the gap with a flexible mastic (for want of a better expression) that the flooring place can supply you coloured to match (nearly) the laminate. The fact that your expansion gap is smaller here than round the rest of the room doesn't matter in the greater scheme of things.

Yeah,I'll be using scotia around the rest of the room but A.I can't imagine it looking right around the hearth and B.I was going to go with White scotia to match with the skirting which would definitely look daft with the hearth lol unless I match it there.

that's not the correct way to do it, as the floor isn't fixed it needs to expand & move & if you fill in the gap with silicon it can't do thatI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

hi i know this isn't the right way to do it, just she insisted she wanted a flowing effect and didn't want trims / scotia to be used. she was happy, and it never gave any problems.0
