I am unclear as to whether you have accepted their acceptance or not.

If you have then for gawd's sake get on the blower and let them know you aren't proceeding.

If you haven't I'm not sure what you are worried about. You've seen other places you liked since they rejected your offer and are keeping your options open.

The only poor etiquette in house buying (aside from obvious things like not leaving a curry influenced dump in the loo when you're on a viewing) is gazundering/gazumping.

Just to confirm - leaving a standard dump in the loo is considered fine then?

  • Ruggedtoast, I didn't initially accept their acceptance, I asked for the Sunday to think about it but they kept pushing me for a response and seemed a little disgruntled that I didn't jump for joy at the acceptance - I was totally confused by the situation.
I called the EA this morning to confirm that I would not be purchasing the flat... I feel very relieved, it was at the top of my budget and would have cost a fortune in heating and electricity all for being in a pretty block... had they initially accepted I would have never seen the other flat but would probably have been happy with my purchase in the long run if rather broke.

    Thanks everyone :)
  • Oddly Tirian, this flat was only the second flat (out of a total 12 that I've seen) that didn't have a dump in the loo/ filthy toilet... I think I saw that as a omen

Haha. I saw some of those too. I took it as a sign that the tenants didn't want to have to move.

a massive reason as to why I am buying is to provide a secure future for my jack russell.

Oddest reason for buying a house that I've ever seen, but it's touching :)

  • Wanchai, I know, it's rather silly. She's my familiar! I bought her for myself when I was 19 and knew that it was a big commitment, after the 'I'm not looking after it' chat from my dad... I don't think he thought I'd take it this seriously though!

I think it's responsible, many owners (of all ages) are not. :)
