When playing some pre recorded DVDs the picture freezes and then jumps about then starts again then it keeps on doing it the plays OK for a while.
These are DVDs that I have bought not recorded myself.

When you say "pre-recorded" does this mean Originals or Copies?

Is this from the beginning of the disk or part-way through? If part-way through, perhaps it can't cope with the layer change on dual-layer disks.

Copies tend to have a blue/purple burnable side while originals tend to be Silver/goldie.

If copies then it could be that they were done on cheap, unreliable media, which over time have deterioated and will no longer play or start to skip.

Or its dirty/got scractched which you can try cleaning.

Have you tired them in another player? if they play ok in that then its the DVD player.
