How very odd - I've just received my bathroom wooden venetian blinds, not a bad quality on the whole but the raise/lower strings are weird.

Nice smooth operation on a 3 string pull system with a single string extension attached. Trouble is when the blind is UP the strings are extremely long. Even if I removed the single string extension, the remainder still dangle over two feet below the bottom of the recess the blinds fit into.

Can't be made any shorter, but who on earth would want a load of excess strings hanging down way past the window sill! :mad:

Anyone had Web-Blinds or Hillary's Blinds? This seems to be a design fault, it's not a problem I have with other blinds from elsewhere.

Not to mention the safety aspect!
I usually hate health and safety things but in this case, long hanging blind cords are a very serious risk to small children.
Not sure if the op has any mind you but also from an asthetic point of view it can't look great, can you fix one of those hooks to the side to wind the cord around?

Great idea hadn't thought of that - if the company won't refund my money that's what I'll do.

OMG yes, the 3 corded pulley part would be perfect 'hanging height' for my 2 grandchildren!!! So much for their advertised 'child safe' blinds......the design on mine makes it the complete opposite.

It's also a risk to cats, found one of mine dangling by the neck, luckily paws were still on the arm of sofa - company (not Hillary's) sent me some metal spools to wind them onto

They've told me it's 'normal' for a venetian blind with a 2'9" drop to have strings (when the blind is in the 'up' position) of 6'3" in length!

So, if you want to risk hanging a child or a pet - buy your blinds from Web-Blinds.com or Hillary's Blinds!
