Best place to buy radiators

Hi, I need to replace my hall radiator and buy another for my lounge. I'm looking for something "modern" but not too expensive. Some of the radiators I've looked at run into 4 figures

B&Q and Homebase have a good range but I'm not sure about the quality. Does anyone have any views on them or options to buy elsewhere?

Many thanks in advance.

Dear god! Kudox and Flomasta? Tell me you aren't a professional plumber.

OP, don't get me wrong, screwfix certainly has it's place. It has great prices on many things but radiators are not to be bought from there! Stick to the Stelrads and the Mysons of the world and you won't go far wrong. If you don't have an account with a plumbers merchant then I'm not too sure what kind of discount you can expect but your best bet would be to get a quote from all the regulars: Grahams, City Plumbing, Plumbase, Plumbcentre etc. and any local independents near you. Find the cheapest like for like quote, go back to that company and tell them they are out by a little bit and see what they can knock off. Remember to include your lockshields and TRVs in quotes as these can vary dramatically when quoted and will soon turn a good radiator quote into a more expensive overall quote.
  • Agree with TT & unless you are looking at designer rads i've never seen one that goes into 4 figures
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

Thanks for the replies. As I said, the designer radiators are out of my reach. Anyone out there got a B&Q or Homebase radiator or are they all much the same?

    Thanks

As TT says, stick with the known brands, such as Stelrad and Myson. They aren't designer makes and their products are very good.

I doubt B&Q/Homebase versions will be much cheaper than a Stelrad/Myson one from Plumbase, or similar. I bought my Stelrads from an online supplier and have no complaints

I have always used wickes, well for the last 20 years, for me, friends and family. Not had an issue yet.
But a professional installer will always go with the most reliable at a reasonable price, they don't want to have to go back, it costs money and ruins reputations so add that into your decision equation.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Thanks for the advice again everyone. I'll check out the radiators you recommended.
  • I got a fantastic tall black vertical designer radiator for my new kitchen from a company called Trueshopping UK. Brilliant service and beautiful radiator at half the cost of the ones I've seen in catalogues/shops/online.
