Our old washing machine doesnt do a very good job, you hang clothes out on the line and you can see bits stuck them. Once they're dry you shake them and there's dust released.

Is it not the washing powder/liquid that gets the clothes clean, not the machine? Do you put too much in a load, if you're over filling then the detergent can't get around all of the clothes properly. I'm pretty sure that all new machines will get all clothes clean, provided enough detergent and the right amount of clothes is put in. People generally recommend based on reliabilty, of which I would say Miele, Bosch, Siemens and AEG are all good makes.0

Spend an hour in the local library with a notepad and pen and a stack of Which? magazines... they have decent reviews on machines from £200 to £20000
