on friday ( changed password so i could get in) and again just now (changed it again).i have no spyware on the pc,nobody has access to the pc and it's impossible to get in touch with anybody via FB.incidentally on friday the password was changed from enfield and i'm MILES away.never in all the years of owning a pc have i had this problem and my question is how does this happen? also on friday when i went to change the password it informed me that somebody in Indonesia had tried to access the account.there is no information in the FB account of use to anybody ( only really use it to get freebies) and it's driving me mad.

Could your email account have been compromised? Is your wireless connection secure?

If they know your email address to login then why not create a new email account eg with gmail and use that instead of the hotmail 1.
So you've updated your anti virus and everything correct.

Ok so no one can guess your email address and passwords but someone is somehow managing to guess them, I would have thought your pc was compromised but you say its clean.
  • The usual way FB accounts are stolen is not by malware but by social engineering.

A typical practice is to set up a service that requires a user to register with an email and password. Most users re-use these credentials, so a small number of users will unwittingly hand over their FB account details.

Make sure you only use the username / password combination that you use with Facebook on sites that you trust. Similarly, be wary of marketing emails that require you to 'register' in order to apply for a prize - the credentials you provide could be stolen or sold to spammers.

i'm extremely wary of any emails i get-in fact even when i got one from FB with a link after having login probs i still opened up a new window to login.still a pain in the !!! when summat like this happens as i'm extremely careful.
