Returning beer to supermarket

I massively overestiametd what beer and spirit was needed for a wedding and as a result I have 20+ cases of lager.
I am not going to be able to use all of it even though Christmas is coming up.
Will supermarkets take any of it back if a) I bought it 2 weeks ago and b) I still have the receipts.

You can ask. I worked for Sainsburys and we used to refund if the packaging was completely unopened and a receipt was presented. However this was 10 years ago so rules may have changed. We actually used to advertise this (along with the glass hire service) as people buying for weddings, parties etc were often unsure how much they would need.

If they won't take it back I'll be happy to share it with you :D

Sounds like Christmas present shopping nightmare solved for you. Case of lager each for all of your mates & give the spirits to their partners. Job done :)
House buying fell through. Lost £1731.24 :(

You can only ask at the store, if not then either use it as presents for xmas.

Some will, some won't. Where did you buy it from?
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

    Tesco Superstore
  • Tesco will definately take it back, if you have a receipt and all the items are on it ,you can have a refund, if you havent got a receipt they can only give you the price it scans at on the day and give you an exchange.

If you have paid using a clubcard or credit card they can also retrieve your original reciept provided it is within 14 days of original purchase.

    Hope this helps
  • Tesco will give you a refund providing you have the receipt. I personally would call and speak to the stores customer service desk first, explain the situation and double check, get a name and I'm sure they'll issue a refund without a problem.

I hope they don't resell what they take back!

Good job it was Tesco, I know a lot of others won't take back any edible product unless there's a problem

I'm pretty sure they will take it back within 28 days with a recipt AND if its all unopened and undamaged.

Sainsburys does this. When I worked on Alcohol, I recommended customers to overbuy in case they didn't get enough in the first place and bring back all complete unopened stuff back for refund. I doubt Tesco would do different.
