Can't open pdf - Adobe installed

I'm suddenly unable to open pdf files whereas previously i could do so with no problem.
Adobe is installed.
I get the error:
'Invalid menu handle'
Any ideas?

Has there been an update? Sounds as if the package could be corrupt so perhaps remove and then either install the latest version from the adobe website or install an alternative like Foxit Reader(free) which is to be recommended.0

Uninstall it and download Foxit reader. Do custom install and say no to chrome or toolbars it may wamt to install.
Much smaller in size and works on pdfs fine,0 -
