Washing Machine Fault

I have a Servis M3102A. Last night it stopped midwash. Luckily the drum was empty so I was able to retrieve my washing easily.

This morning I have tried to get it working. The power light is illuminated and when I select a wash mode I hear a click then nothing happens. Usually I then hear water running into the drum.

Please can anybody give me advice on the likely cause and what sort of cost it would be to repair? (South East).

Thanks
SB

Before you ring anyone try clearing the filter/pump.

Often behind a small flap at bottom of machines, check the manual.

    Yes to water supply.

Have cleaned the filter but can't access the impeller

I've also tried unplugging and leaving for a while then putting power back on.

I'm also confident the door mechanism isn't the problem. When I select a wash mode it locks the door. It will only allow it to open when the dial is turned back to a red dot.

Does the machine go through the cycle as normal, other than the drum not turning? My own washer clicks (relay?) each time the drum turns. You might be able to hear clicks when the drum is meant to turn, feel the water warm up and the pump during rinse and spin cycles.

Assuming it tries to go through the cycle, I would guess that perhaps the motor brushes have worn out. Remove everything out the washer, and turn the drum by hand while turned off. Does the drum rotate smoothly and freely? If not, it could be the bearings.

If the drum turns smoothly and freely, try putting it on a spin cycle and see if the drum turns, or tries to.

Check spin programs to see if it works, if it does then water inlet valve could be faulty and is a cheap and easy DIY fix.
