spg point/airmile flyer programmes going to australia

Hi guys wondered if you could give me some info, advise feedback,my wife and baby are moving to oz next year,so when we go will be looking to get one way flights.
In the years past i have several times using b.a.,cathay and quantas, but my best airline and have used more has been singapore airlines.
I have 124,000 spg points which i can transfer for airmiles,im told i have many options and many flyer programmes i can pick from,im told i could even maybe get business class.
I also have avios points also which is about 12,500 or so.

I was told i could get two economy tickets and add baby as lap, been told i can get three tickets and baby can have own seat, baby will be 8/9 months by the time we plan on going.
And been told we could get business class which would really be nice.
I would be flying from aberdeen,so if needed could use the avios points for flight for that to london, then the spg points for the london to perth flight.
But im also told to save keep my avios flight and use them with quantas when im over there for domestic ones.I would worry they cant be used once over there or cant use them etc.

I do like singapore as a airline to fly with.

I was wondering whatever program i used if there would be fees on top of using my points as in airline fees.
Im very confused what to do about it all and we want to set ourself a date on going as time is running out on my visa, and that way if flights are booke then we can work to that date.

I did wonder with these programmes if say something came up and we just could not go on them dates is it possible to change to sooner or later flights?

some ingo advise and help on this would be great never used point to get flight etc and the reason i have so much as wanted to use this for when we go.

Just having a look at the SPG Flights search...
economy tickets seems to be from 75,000 each one way and business class start at 235,000 each one way

You could transfer them to SQ miles and you may have enough to get out in economy if you can find any saver awards but a standard business award would be 150,000 each + taxes/fees

As richardw has pointed out Flyertalk is the best site to research\ask Q's

There will be taxes to pay even if you use FF award miles\avios\airmiles.

One tip is that you could use Avios to fly Aberdeeen (ABZ) to a NON UK point (Amsterdam) and then start your sinlg flight OZ trip from there.
This could reduce the Taxes and fees -though the hassle factor may outweigh the savings!

Thats the other question how does one know taxes cost and by the time we go will be traveling with a 8/9 month old baby so no hassle is best and less cost if possible probably cant get both?

For economy estimate £300-£350 for one way economy or around £400 - £450 for business each
    it will vary by airline

Thats a lot whats the point in having points if you cant get almost free flights?i thought with all them point would not be much to pay,im sure i did a quick price on prices and was approx £1500 for us from abz to perth that was direct with airline so could be less with other sites,so looks like maybe flights i would get after taxes might be half the price.

Flyertalk as in post 2 is an excellent resource.
I collect and use miles but mostly for longhaul premium classes
Much of the fares on shorthaul and economy tickets are the taxes and fees so these are considered poor value for miles use

I have a flight next month, one-way to India in First class from Zurich that would cost about £7,700 to purchase..is costing £140 for the taxes and a load of miles
UK taxes are an issue so we have flights booked to ZRH the day before with Avios for 4,500 miles and £13.50 (and staying in hotel on points)

So im best maybe to use my 12,500 avois points and fly overseas and get sinapore flight from there to perth i take there is less taxes to pay etc im just used to flying to london from aberdeen and then on to perth etc does not really matter hey, wonder what fees are charged doing it that way
