ebay ... does feedback detail of purchases & sales have to be shown ?

Not sure if im understanding you correctly. but if you mean as a seller do you have to have your feedback set to public so everyone can see see it then yes you do..0

i guess both as buyer & seller ... specifically thinking that i might not want someone who knows my ebay address to see what i'm buying or selling .. presents etc .0

As far as i know so long as you have active listings for selling on an account you cannot set your feedback to private.0

most of the time i don't have any listings on .0

Just make another Ebay account.
Use one for buying and the other for selling.
You can then set your buying account to Private but people wanting to look can still see a history of most recent purchases.0
