Recommend a weedkiller please

Can anyone recommend a weedkiller please.

My neighbour built some decking, laid membrane down before he built it but didn't completely clear the garden or put weedkiller down. Now there is an abundance of poppies and other spreading plants that have come through and are encroaching on my garden.

Neighbour's house is a holiday home so no regular maintenance is done as he's not here very often and he hasn't attempted to clear these plants as they're virtually inaccessible from his side.

Any ideas what I can use, preferably for a permanent solution?

Thanks.

Residual weedkillers are now a thing of the past, blame the EU or H&S dependent on your view point.

So we are left with Glyphosyl variants, some are hopelessly dilute, some need carefull handling as they are strong and even when used to instructions can be wind spread.

Cheack out Roseate 36, (I think) from memory.:D
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Roundup is good. I tried others and found them not so good, roundup kills them in hours

Thanks guys. I've gone for the Roundup as I only really want a small amount and I've got a spray bottle which will do fine.

Roundup is made by Monsanto. Some people don't like the business activties of Monsanto, so they might want to use a generic glyphosate and pay less too. ;)

Generics or lesser-known brands are just as good as the equivalent strength of Roundup. I use both. The strength is measured in grams per litre.

It takes around 2 weeks to see results from plain glyphosate, and possibly longer at this time of year. Knowing this, Monsanto have invented a fast acting form of Roundup with extra additives, which gives visible results in two days. This makes impatient people feel better, but they pay for the privilege!

Remember that soon it won't be effective to use enzyme blocking weedkillers, unless we have a very mild autumn.

Just to be 100% clear, Roundup is a form of glyphosate. Other forms of glyphosate are not trade marked, and can be bought much more cheaply. Check out ebay for Rosate 36. And to state the obvious, if you use a watering can or sprayer to apply the glyphosate, I suggest you mark the container as 'poison' or 'weedkiller' and only ever use it for that purpose.

Rosate 36 is a product for professional use only so illegal to use as an amateur.

Thanks for all your help and advice guys. I have bought a 1 litre spray bottle of Roundup, that will be more than sufficient and should last a long time.

No, it is illegal to use it professionally, i.e. on someone else's land, when not properly trained.

Which legal chemical one chooses to use privately on one's own land is not the concern of the state.....yet!

Just be careful with the spraygun, the stuff can drift a good way with a very spoiling effect;)

Best to us it on almost a jet rather than spray setting
