Thanks for the help. I don't know why there are so many leaseholds around here, but they all seem to have short leases.
Turns out the lease isn't definitely 72 years, may well be 62 years like the other one in the same street. lease-advice.org suggests it would be around £13000 to £14000 to extend the lease. Surely it would be better to buy the freehold?The extending lease malarky is a pain in the neck, if you're serious about short leases you need to read up on what extending leases is all about.0 -
From my experience, it also depends on how long the property has been on the market. I don't know how long properties typically take to sell in that area, if the property is relatively new to the market, vendor/estate agent may want to hold out a bit longer to see what they can get (even if they say they want a quick sale).0
