Thanks for the replies. The freeholder should have the building insured, although I didn't think they covered superficial damage of a break in. I didn't have any contents insurance unfortunately. Would I still be able to claim on my buildings insurance? The burglary was in February 2011. I bet they have a clause saying you must claim within some period considerably less than 18 months.
I am considering offering them 100 quid in settlement, but I don't know if it will work now that it has gone to a solicitor. It is still the original company that's suing though, not a debt agency or anything.
The callout was a Thursday night about 1930, so out of normal office hours but not in the middle of the night or anything.0 -
£25+vat Bargain.. Let us all know when you start this business.
We used to get £40 for being on standby for the alarms. Easy money when your 5 miles away. Not so much when your 130 miles away having a family dayout because someone else is on call but wont answer the phone.
Sorry kids I know you waited 20 minutes in the queue for the roller coaster and we are near the front but we have to go now.
Luckily that wasnt me, I would have ignored the phone also. He moaned about it for months.
If they have really paid a solictor then i cannot see them accepting £100 now.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
