Loughton

Would like to move to Loughton early next year, I have a 3 year old and courious to know what parks are there, playgroups, etc.

Also, how safe is this area?

Comments

  • I don't live there but a former colleague did. Said it was very family friendly.

Make of that what you will.
  • I don’t know the area personally – but you could always consult the local council’s website about the parks and facilities http://www.loughton-tc.gov.uk/
As for crimes, you could look at
    http://www.police.uk/
which should tell you whats happened in the area
These days, I’d also consider if theres any flood risk

    Best of luck:)

Loughton is very pricey and desirable these days. I wouldn't choose to live near Oakwood Hill or Debden though. The nearer the station, the pricier it can be. Lots of roads/houses straight off the High Street - remember there may be parking difficulties, people turning round up your road, queues at the end to get out...

Got a couple of friends on (and around) Goldings Hill which seems to be popular at the moment, but it is further from the station.

Personally, I prefer Epping. I would also consider Buckhurst Hill (not too near Roding Valley side), North Chingford, Theydon Bois, Abridge (if you don't need a station), Chigwell or South Woodford.

Let us know how you get on! (I grew up in Chigwell and went to school in Loughton.)

Thank you for all your comments :T
  • Loughton is lovely, avoid Debden side though. Other lovely areas near by are Woodford Green, Epping, North Chingford, all of them are safe and lots of parks and Epping forest on your doorstep.
