Fruit/veg for shady site

I have a bed along my back fence, which gets direct sun until about 11am, and then shade. The fence is about 2m high. The soil has been deep dug, and is clay rich, with some compost, and more will be thrown on top. There will be some rhubarb about 2m from the fence. What would be ideal next to the fence? I believe redcurrants will do okay, but not as sweet as otherwise. Raspberries? Veg? Jerusalem artichokes? Obviously most fruit and veg prefer full sun, but some must grow okay, but with a reduced yield.

  • I grow Raspberries, Redcurrants, Gooseberries and Blackberries at the side of the house which gets barely any sunshine and get great results.

Tayberries, Cooking Apples, Alpine Strawberries too. Your post has reminded me about Jerusalem Artichokes - been meaning to get some.:D
