Hi, After an original refusal for my daughters DLA claim, we requested a reconsideration, that was also refused. We then sent in an appeal GL24 with lots more supporting evidence. the appeal was logged on sept 3rd.
Last thur received letter dated 9th oct saying have awarded HRM & MRC without having to go to appeal.
And that they would be backdating to april. And payment would hit bank account in 3 to 4 days.
Then received a letter also dated 9th oct saying theyreeived decision from the appeal tribunal and before they can continue with the claim i have to fill in form DBD545 (your reply) its questions about hospital stays e.t.c.
Does rhis mean that we will not be getting any money in the bank in a few days or untill they got this form back .
Many thanks

This is entirely normal.
If she has not been in hospital, there will be no effect on the award.
If she has, then the amount of backpayment may be reduced.0 -
Thankyou, She went to the uclh about 4 weeks ago for a 5 day admission to the adolescent rheumatology unit for assesment/rehab , i wouldnt of thought that would effect any payments. Do the have to receive this form back before they issue the back payment out .
Thanks0 -
Hospital stays of less than 28 days do not affect entitlement. I would expect the DLA department to wait until they receive the form to pay you.... but you might be lucky

p.s if you claim child tax credit don't forget to tell them about the DLA award so your entitlement can be increased... if you are not claiming you may want to see if you qualify

That will ne fine for the 5 days hospital stay, will get the form gilled out and sent back then, how odd that they sent the award letter out saying the payment will be there in a few days, my daughter is 17 and we do not get anything for her as she has recently got esa, (ir) .0

I had this last month and found it strange too. But it's the DWP we're talking about
I got a letter about a week after I sent it in explaining a payment would be made by x date and it was xx 0 -
Was that a week after sending in the hospital stay form? Had you received your award letter before you got the dbd545 form0
-
Yes, I got a payment the week after I sent the hospital stay form thing, but prior to this, I got my award letter saying the money would be with me in 5 days (or something, working from rubbish memory) It was all backwards anyways, I couldn't fathom it out so I rang them and they just said they needed the info on the form before they sent the money, despite what the award letter said - go figure! All it would take would be a little rewording of the letters, but no, they like to confuse you
