JSA and how to claim ???

Hi,

Wonder if anybody could clarify some things for me, I have been told as I only work 12 hours a week that I may be entitled to some JSA allowance. I do have a partner who works full time, so I am not sure if this is correct. I have three children as well. Could some one please advise if this can be done. thanks cherie

Yes it can be done however as your partner works both your income will be taken into account when calculating income-based JSA, if however you qualify for contribution-based JSA then your partner's income will not count at all.

Although technically it is possible (cont based) it won't happen as 12 hrs at NMW will exclude it in reality, and as you are not income based there won't really be any benefit to this (apart from your NI credits)
