'daily deal' item is fake?

Hi, I don't usually buy branded clothing from ebay because I'm never too sure about it, but this was one of the 'daily deals' so I assumed they'd been verified as authentic beforehand.

The seller is selling 'this season' hollister and abercrombie t-shirts quite cheap so I bought one.

I have a fair amount of hollister tshirts because I've got family in the US that send them to me for birthdays/xmas etc, and this is definitely not the same quality nor fabric nor label in the shirt. Also if you compare the shirt to the one on the website, the logo etc is at a completely different level.

It was only £15 quid so I'm not overly bothered, I'll just wear it around the house etc, my main point was surely ebay shouldn't be allowing people selling fake items to be promoted under the 'daily deals'?

Should you not raise a case, to get your money back? It is a criminal offence to sell fake clothing.

As it is a daily deal, and you would expect these to be from a verified source, could it possible be 2nd's or rejected items? This might explain the labels being in different places.

Ebay will not be seeing the items for sale, they accept the Daily Deals based on their knowledge of a seller and their feedback. If you're keeping the item and not complaining and everyone else is doing the same then they never will know about it.

My advice would be to take the item to Trading Standards and get them to investigate the seller. It's possible that these could be so-called grey market goods and may be made to a different standard for a non USA market, no idea if these companies do that but quite a few others do.

  • My friend advised to go to hollister next week when I'm back at uni and see if someone will verify whether it's real or not, and if not then I should probably take it to trading standards.

Guess I should do this then instead of being a lazy !!!!!

Many companies use different suppliers and designs for different countries.

    Could be that i suppose.

Brilliant! Love it! :rotfl: Can't understand a store where it takes you several minutes for your eyes to adjust to the extremely low lighting levels so you can't really see what you're buying!

Personally I feel Holister is total rip off and, take away the Holister label, and the clothes wouldn't go for half of what they actually sell for.
