So who is the landlord as far as the student STA's are concerned-you or your brother? If him then he is liable for vacant periods, not the owner. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Yes he rang them up and gave meter readings when he moved in asking that account was set up in his name from that date.
Then they have to cancel the warrant application as they are aware of a new tenancy. The warrant is aimed at fitting a PPM which is to stop the debtor continuing that course.
If you are the landlord, your name should go on for all dates inbetween your tenancies. This is the only extent of your liability providing your tenancy agreements hold the tenant liable for utilities.
The action right now to stop the warrant is for the customer to complain stating they are new hence its not their debt.
The reason the supplier wants those tenancies is nothing to do with the warrant, that's only about assigning debt correctly.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Hi pka,
I'm a little confused by this and would like to get it sorted for you, so that your brother has an account set up in his name from when he moved in, and any debt that is owed from previous tenants is followed up with them for payment.
Please could you send me all the details to forumresponse@npower.com and I can get onto this?
Best wishes,
Adam

Thanks for the responses guys, all sorted hopefully.
My brother now has his new acount numbers from npower and I have it in writing from Adam (npower company representative) that the debt collection company have been informed of the change in tenancy, which should prevent any further actions being taken.
Just to be on the safe side, I have suggested to my brother that he responds to the letter addressed to the occupier from debt collection company asking them to confirm that they have cancelled the court hearing.
Thanks again all.0
