am i the only one who can hear these cat scarers, they give off a high pitch sound and you can hear they from quite far away, some one a few doors down had one until i asked them to remove it as i couldnt sit in the garden peacefully without a noise in my ear every few seconds

I am about to try SILENT ROAR.

Will let you know how I get on.

...living close to Dudley Zoo (within scrounging distance), I can confirm that lion poo works well. Cats are really territorial, and know to defer to a bigger, harder, !!!!-of-the-walk cat.

The roses never looked so good either :D
  • I Got One From B&q And It Is Great .
  • I dont have a cat, but i do have two toddlers who will eat anything they come into contact with..

On nice days like it has been i have to check all the garden and remove crap before i can let them out to play. Great job to do, clean up after somebody elses cats when im pregnant and have other things i would rather be doing as i dont OWN a cat!

those sonic things, a caller on a local radio station was also complaining he could here it and had been knocking on all his neighbours houses asking them not to use them !
    sus x
  • I completely sympathise - there are at least 4 cats in the immediate vicinity of my flat that choose my garden to dump in and none of them cover up their muck.

I have tried all manner of powders / smelly things which haven't worked. I got my sonic deterrant from ebay, was about £15. It worked really well for the first month, but they seem to have got used to it now, even though I moved it round the garden so the noise would come from different directions.

I don't have an external water source, but if I did, I'd try one that shoots water at them - my Dad (who's retired and so able to sit at home and watch them!) has a water pistol and has successfully managed to 'train' all the neighbourhood cats to avoid his garden!

meanwhile.... back to the opening post...money saving and all that......

Ultrasonic Deterers. My experience is dont bother with battery ones they don't last 2 minutes. Mains powered ones run from a low voltage adapter and often have just a long, small, safe cable to the unit outdoors.
    How about this one? http://www.shoppersworld.co.uk/templated/darlington/factoryshop/product.asp?s=334&d=1784&p=14850&c=13&s1=0&s2=0&s3=0

£9.97+£4.99 packing (unless you live near Darlington shop) Better to buy 2 as price drops to
2 x £7.97+£4.99 packing = £20.93 for 2, stick one each end of the garden to deafen poor little Mr Tiddles.

even better if you find something to take the order to £35 for free post. £7.97 is very good as its the same unit as this http://www.everythingforpets.com/ultrasonic_animal_chaser.pet/use.id.5.item_id.1298.dept.0/
    at £25 !!!
  • Let us be clear here. This thread is a MONEY SAVING thread to find the best deal for a sonic cat repeller.

It is NOT a place for discussion on the ethics of cat ownership or ways to stop cats that may or may not be deemed illegal.

I have removed a number of posts on this thread and I would ask that this thread remains on topic.

This is a money saving board.
