Permitted work

I have been to CAB to ask about permitted work. I understand everything involved, I'm just wondering if anyone has done permitted work while on ESA and if they can tell me their experiences. Thanks

Thanks for your reply although CAB have said if I'm on income related there is no problem in the amount I earn! Just no more than around £97 a week and under 16 hours.0

Hi Sarah
I am on ESA contributions in support group award ends July 2015. I do PW of £90/week for 12 hours which is well under the limits of what is now £99 and 16 hours (rate went up 1/10/12). The weekly limit is based on 16 hours @ min wage which is now £6.19 and rounded to nearest whole 50p. And so far as I know it applies to both contributions and income related as it is disregarded for the means testing, so in other words you can earn it on top of the ESA. The 2nd person who said otherwise I believe has it wrong. It would apply to JSA in that they would deduct it and that is where the £20 rule comes into it. Might have been £5 a few years ago. For some reason I recall both of those being mentioned when I last claimed JSA (2005).
However I am now converting my ESA to income related as my OH lost his job, so I guess I will find out when the revised award comes back.
Are you in the WRAG or the Support group? I think any time limit would only be for contributions rate one as that only goes on for the year. If you are on the income related it may go on for longer if that makes sense. Your award letter should tell you the end date.0 -

Thanks for that info, obviously I want to get everything right before I start any permitted work, I don't want to get in any trouble. I am on IR ESA and in the support group. What do you mean by my award letter will give me an end date?0
