4GB SD Card

Options
Morning all..

I've just bought a 4GB SD card..

Put it in my card reader, the computer recognises it as been there but when I click it it says I/O error. Also it doesn't pop up with the normal view folders etc

Do I need to update or patch anything?
I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!

Your card reader may not be able to address 4GB or it could be another ebay fake card! Can you try it in a camera etc?

I've since found out my reader won't read SDHC cards and neither will the product I bought it for... Just my luck!

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy reliable SD cards from?
I probably need about a 1gb one for a digital camera. Though i have seen MASSIVE price differences for such things and wonder if this is because the cheap ones are 'dodgy' etc.

I use these and find them pretty good.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Technology-1GB-Digital-SD/dp/B00070QI1I/ref=pd_bbs_1/026-8919718-7527613?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1176203742&sr=8-1

The ones priced at £2.08 come in at £6.58 with p & p.

Cheap ones can often be slow

    Oh thanks.

I have seen these kinds of cards for about £20 in camera shops (maybe even more in tourist cities), how can they get away with selling at such a massive price?

Prices for some memory devices have dropped sharply in recent months, some stockists still hold old stock they paid much more for, or are just relying on customer apathy.

www.w2w.com have a good selection, but shop around as prices change so quickly at the moment.
