But, I note that you DID buy a Blackberry PlayBook... and then found that you didn't like it. (It's worth looking up past posts when someone makes fatuous comments, just to cheak if they're a complete idiot or not,) Strangely.... in MY book that doesn't qualify you as an "expert". Tablets are a spin off of the smartphone market. I was part of the tech' support team for the launch of the worlds' first ever smartphone. That kind of DOES qualify me as some kind of "expert". And guess which in country your iPod was made? In China, by Foxconn.0

But it wasn't designed in China, was it?
Big difference and, yes, I did own a Playbook but ditched it for a Nexus 7.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Wouldn't buy a vtech unless they have improved in the last year as someone bought my then 3 year old one for Christmas for about £100 any it was rubbish. The apps were about £5 and rubbish compared to apple or android ones.
Mine never plays it now and takes turns with is brother who has an IPad which someone bought to help with his ASD. They seem pretty robust to me as his has been down the stairs and dropped a few times but it does have a screen protector and a pretty robust case.
As said I would keep an eye on Hotukdeals as there are often a few deals on there for Chinese models from uk sellers from about £70and people will normally advise regarding whether their worth buying or not.0 -
at an utterly AMAZING £37.43. Now THAT is a price which ought to excite people.

Yes, but not the best offer around. In the same price range you'll find THIS one: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/7-Android-4-0-Tablet-PC-All-Winner-A10-CPU-1-5GHz-multi-touch-capacitive-1GB/313715_632959854.html
I have a friend (who's a total Tabklet nerd) who bought one of these a few weeks back. That one works out at $82 including (admittedly quite slow - but "Free" - delivery AND a protective case with built in hardware QWERTY keyboard.) He's very happy with it. (By profession, he's a laptop repair man!) He sent me a video of it in operation a few days back, showing off how he's connected it up to his flastscreen TV, added a USB "Hub", a mouse and a Pen drive, and was playing MKV video files on TV from the pendrive. $82 is within pence of £50, and I can't imagine a 7 year old who wouldn't be THRILLED to own one, particularly if you show him/her how to download and install applications and games. The few bob extra that this one costs is justified by having a (slightly) better processor, a "normal" USB 2.0 socket AND a mini HDMI socket. I'd say it was an ideal introduction to tablet computing. Not by any means "the best", but arguably costing only about a fraction of what "the best" would do. Bought my own son his first car last year, and guess what?! It wasn't a Ferrari!! It was a second hand, 1 litre, VW "Lupo". Four wheels, VW reliablity, and doesn't gulp petrol too quickly. Does exactly what it needs to be able to do, and (as a package - tax, insurance, petrol etc.) it's affordable. Similar logic.0 -

Do you know if the following is true-
If you buy from a Chinese / Hong Kong seller an extra 13.9% customs duty and 20% VAT is likely to be demanded by your shipping company (DHL, Royal Mail. etc) before they hand over your item.

The Leappad is great, bought one last year for my daughter who is now nearly 4 and she still uses it most days. Yes the games can be pricey but they have different levels and even the freebie ones are good!
Maybe an idea for the younger one?

Hi OP. I have seen the binatone tablet for sale in Argos. It was £149.99 a couple of weeks ago when it first came out. It's down to £119.99. This is the one I am getting for my 4 year old DD. It is like an adult tablet but suitable for children. You can get the accessory pack for half price if bought with the tablet.Feb NSD's 2/10 under my belt.
