When I got home yesterday and did a 1471 on my land line, the following number had tried to call me - 0 00 00 0 00 0 00. I have tried Googling this but no joy - can anyone help?

It is a 'placeholder' in the CLIP field, that should be replaced with the correct string for the line or private extension making the call. Not many folk realise that CLIP can be generated by the user, (if they have the correct equipment and signalling connection) and this will override the actual line number used.
Being charitable, 00000000xxxx would be a mistake, but it must be said, many firms prefer it this way as it allows them to get past call recipients that block withheld numbers, yet not disclose who is calling.0
