Loughborough -Can Anyone Give Advice

We are an elderly couple moving to Loughborough.

We will be looking for a bungalow or chalet bungalow in a safe, quiet area and can afford up to £300.000 - though hope to spend less!

Can anyone from Loughborough tell us which 'nice' areas would suit.

Thank you in anticipation of any replies

Thank you Richard, from the street view this looks like a nice area - very green and spacious. Property is under offer but we will certainly add area to the list of viewing places.
Is most of LE11 like this I wonder?
Thanks again for taking trouble to send information.

You need to visit in person, at different times of day.

I did not get to experience the nicer portions of Loughborough, so I cannot help you there.

However, IIRC, the north side of Ashby Road (opposite the engineering departments) was a bit rough, as was Poet's Corner, a section off Epinal way.
    Good, clean fun.... :D

Avoid anywhere north of ashby road, from the university going east into the middle of the town- student central

Thanks all _ its so useful to know areas to avoid - the estate agents throw so many properties at you and it will be useful to sift out the worst areas before we go on our 'big tour'.

The 'Forest' area of Loughborough (south-western area) is seen as one of the nicest parts - it is the area between Forest Road/Nanpantan Road, Valley Road and Epinal Way (but not including Shelthorpe!), and also the residential area between Forest Road/Nanpantan Road and the university.

The majority of the villages surrounding Loughborough are also very nice.

Do you want 'actual' Loughborough? Or would you look into some of the Charnwood villages? Cropston, Woodhouse Eaves, Quorn, Swithland are all lovely.
This one is in Barrow - again, really nice village http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-38688473.html
Cropston - my nan lives in Cropston and it's really nice.

Hope you find somewhere you like :)

Thanks again - this is all so useful. I like the villages but the bungalows seem much more expensive than the outlying Loughborough areas and when you are elderly its good to be nearer a town - less driving, more facilities etc.
