Morning all - it's reasonably bright here. DH is on the sofa under a duvet with 6 of the cats milling about demanding breakfast. My sister performed a miracle decluttering the bedroom yesterday - she says she appreciates me most when she's in one of her OCD phases because she gets satisfaction doing my housework and I pay her for it. It was wonderful to wake up this morning and see absolutely nothing on the bedroom floor; I even slept with the curtains open so I could look at it during the night! It wasn't easy with her 18 month old daughter here - she threw a creme caramel on the floor and scooped up a handful for Nanny, the cats enjoyed scraps a la carpet, and then the niece got stuck going through the catflap - all we could see were a padded bum and two legs waving in the air :) She's a very happy child and only grizzled towards the end of the day when she got tired.

This weekend I'll be doing repeat trips to Oxfam with trolleys of books. Should be able to clear several hundred if I sneak them out past DH, and then I might actually be able to fit them all on proper shelves for the first time in my married life. Still have some clean laundry to sort out, but it all feels manageable now. On Wednesday we're going to tackle the diningroom and my office corner. I will eventually have a decluttered house I can keep control of, if I can stop DH buying useless rubbish. I'm being absolutely ruthless with what I chuck out; 95% of it I haven't looked at/used/worn in years.

No idea what we're going to eat today; I know Lidl have a beef roasting joint on offer this weekend for £5.99/kg, so one of those could be for dinner tonight, and the remains in a stew or stirfry tomorrow. It's 12 days till my 'shopping month' ends and I'm still under budget as we've been eating things from the freezers and pantry. Definitely in the mood for lots of veg - may do cauli + broccoli cheese to go with the beef. Anyway, busy but relaxed weekend ahead.

Have a good day everyone :)

    Good Morning All

    :jCongratulations Lou & family:j

Ahh the weekend at last. Been up for a while, emptied and cleaned dishwasher, cleaned and hoovered kitchen and put first load of washing on - love days like this when I wake with energy :D

In a mo going to take DS to footie practise then pop into town. OH and DD are coming too, DD has got her wages so she won't be costing me anything. OH is getting his haircut, he does shave it himself thoughout the summer but grows it in winter to keep his head warm :o

I need a couple of bits of fruit and veg.

This afternoon will have a potter around then sort some bits for ebay as its free listings this weekend, haven't done this for ages and not my favourite thing at all but have a lot of stuff laying around and needs must. No other plans for the weekend as we are skint as skint can be

Leftover lamb defrosting and will be made into lamb stew tonight.

    Have a great Saturday all.x

    Morning all,

    Congrats Lou and family:j

Lazy start for us today. I had most of a bottle of wine last night and feel a bit delicate this morning. I am such a lightweight:o
Today is the usual Saturday morning clean and then I think DD and DGS will be visiting for an hour this afternoon.
Off out with friends for a meal tonight but will try and make healthy choices. It will be good to have a natter and a catch up.
DS will have a couple of friends around as he has a free house, but only a couple. They are good kids and usually very sensible.
Will have to record strictly, I hope Denise's neck is not too bad,I believe she has whiplash.
it's dry but chilly here, don't think the washing will dry outside though.
Glad I switched my gas and electric over to fixed price until 2013 after yesterday's news of police hikes.
Essex Girl here's another one who is skint and will be listing anything I can lay my hands on this weekend.
Have a good Saturday all x

  • Good morning everyone :)

Well wishes for sick folk and pets, hugs for those who need them and congratulations for the family of the new arrival.

Very changeable here so although I have a load of washing on, am not convinced it's going to reach the washing line.

Have just discovered some whoopsie posh sausages in the freezer, vension and red wine, oo la la! They will do nicely with some lentils and roast veggies for dinner.

Oil and filter needs changing in car and mad as it sounds, it's actually cheaper to have this done in garage rather than DIY. Perfect timing for a 20% voucher from Kwikfit to arrive through the door so am off to make an appointment.

Hope everyone has a lovely day and a super weekend :)

  • Good morning!

Lou I know I've never met you but congratulations! ;):D

Well, lots to do today but TBH I have had such a hectic week that I'm having a bit of a morning off. I'm running a bath and having a croissant and nutella for brunch :p

Then back to the grind. Hoping to list lots on Ebay as it's free listings weekend (my least favourite chore), but also need to finish OH's CV as he's not great at them. And I want to work out a mealplan as far into the future as the freezer and stock cupboard will allow. Even though OH has a modest redundancy payment I want us to try not to use any of it for as long as possible. These days you can't tell how long it will be before another job comes along.

That's why I'm exhausted really. I'm gutted for OH and worried about the future, even though I know we will cope. I have to put a brave face on it and be chirpy and upbeat for his sake, and try to keep him upbeat. That is what's tiring.

Hope everyone has a good day x Molly I love Charlecote park, I usually combine a visit there with one to Wellesbourne market for the bargains!
  • Oooh just booked tickets for the Strictly tour :j:j used the Ramada offer (£20 per night) and got a hotel in London which sleeps the 3 of us, so cheapish!

Off to get ready for lunch now
