Gas central heating or Convection Heater?

Just wondering which is cheaper to run central heating on gas or a cheap convection heater and an oil filled plug in radiator?

2 rooms are used a lot, I have a convection heater in 1 room and an oil filled radiator in another room. Would it be cheaper if I heated the full house using the central heating? A couple of hours in the morning, afternoon and evening? Or carry on using the oil filled in 1 room and the convection heater in the other room, they are used 50% of the time.

I need the house to be warm at all times as I live with an elderly/bed bound person.

Any advice welcome as I don't know nothing about this sort of thing, except I feel I'm paying way too much.

Always use gas CH, but turn off radiators in the rooms not in use.

Producing heat from electrical heaters costs between two and three times more than from gas - depending on the efficiency of your gas boiler.
