To cancel a DD

I am currently disputing a bill with Sky.

The bill is due to come out on the 25th. Should I let the money come out of my account and hopefully avoid any problems with the bank? Or cancel the DD and not pay the bill to show how I am not happy with what they are charging to uphold my complaint?

  • hard to say , depends on your contractual obligations

allow money to come out as it is to avoid a black mark against your credit history but keep on phoning to sort it out

Depends completely upon the nature of the complaint and the contract in dispute.

Generally speaking withholding payment and trashing your credit file isn't worth it.

Just because they're expensive doesn't mean you can break a contract.

    Cancel the direct debit.

Sky doesn't register account activity with credit reference agencies. So you have nothing to worry about
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.
