Do you have enduring power of attorney? My dad still has all of his faculties and is still physically able so all we had to do was make an appointment for his solicitor to come out and see him and access him to make sure he was still capable to make his own decisions and I think it only cost £80. I can now act for him, sort bills and if I need to I have a cheque book with both names on. If you wait until their mental abilities fail then its a matter for the courts and a much more expensive long drawn out process.
Morning all,
Just catching up but wanted to say unfortunately people can no longer apply for "Enduring power of attorney". Been the case for a few years now. Those already set up are fine and can be put into action. I was lucky as got one set up for mum few years ago.
There is something similar but costs a lot more to set up (cost has gone down a bit recently) it is called "Lasting power of attorney", there are 2 types welfare or financial. Or you can become an appointee/deputy through the court of protection but you have to apply to the court everytime something needs doing and this occurrs a fee each time.
For someone who still has capacity at the moment "Lasting power of attorney" is the best plan of action.
I got this information from my OH as he had to deal with this sort of thing a lot in his line of work but it is only an outline as he is not a solicitor. HTHs0 -

Morning everyone,
I have been to sada this morning and with my shopping I bought some christmas nuts. They are in a net bag near the fruit and veg. They are £2.50 each but on the tag it also says they are 2 for £4. The multibuy never came off so I got my £1 back and received a £2 gift card making them £2 for the 2 bags. hope this helps someone.
the barcode is 6790 and they are mixed nuts in shell0 -
