I think so
or like this
Dear Parking Company,
I was shopping at xyz shopping centre and I was fined because my ticket fell to the floor when I closed the door, I only stayed 40 minutes. And here is a copy of my ticket. As a reputable company I believe my fine should be cancelled.
Sincerely
A MugExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

It was intentional but I should have made it clearer! I thought that a normal punter who had not been on MSE would use that word.

Perzackly. Use of the "f"-word immediately marks you out as someone who's fallen for the scam, which is exactly what you want at this stage.Je suis Charlie.0

Anyone who wants to force this to POPLA and cost Parking Spy £27+VAT would be ill advised to write to Parking Spy on the lines suggested above. Faced with a punter who clearly knows the legal position and clearly has no intention of paying, a PPC would be well advised to cut its losses and allow the appeal in order to save itself the POPLA fee.
I rather think that is the intention. And of course this also proves the effectiveness of the PPC's own 'appeals' procedure.
I give it one year before they revert to type.0 -

It might be some folks' intention, but some wish to get beyond the PPC and put POPLA to the test.Je suis Charlie.0 -
Hi, got a Parking charge notice yesterday from ParkingEye for parking 10min over the their limit. My car was used by my friend from US on the day, who has come on a visit for few days. Should I give them his address or send the example '' letter 1" posted in this thread refusing to pay over charged parking fee of £60? Thanks for your help.0

I would give the name and address of the person in the USA. That makes you completely and utterly safe from any possible liability (not that it's 'unsafe' just to ignore it). Point out clearly to Parking Eye that you are only the registered keeper and make sure you give the name and address of your friend, the driver.
Tell your friend that in the unlikely event that he gets letters from this mob, he should let you know as it's just a scam and let us know too please so that we can all have a laugh at PE trying to go international! :rotfl:
I would be VERY interested in PE's response if they write back to you and try to pursue you once you've named the driver. If they try to suggest you are lying and then send more threatograms (after you have fulfilled the invitation to name the driver) then you'd be in a great position to sue them for harassment.
Damages of a few hundred quid could be claimed by you if PE try any funny business aiming letters at you after this.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have joined the forum, specifically to share with others, an alternative way around the problem with Parking Eye and their so-called 'tickets'. Like many others, my wife and her friend overstayed their allotted 4 hour free parking period whilst shopping at Monks Cross Shopping Centre, near York, last week. Having had a successful day out during which they spent a considerable amount of money (as they do!), they returned elated but exhausted.
However, yesterday she received the threatening demand from Parking Eye, complete with photos etc, "requiring" her to pay the excess charge of £85 reduced to £50 for prompt payment.
A search of the net, including this forum, fired me up for battle but before deciding to lock horns with Parking Eye, I decided to take the route of 'reasonable discussion' and therefore telephoned the Operations Manager of the Centre, this morning.
I had in mind to try to ascertain what the excess parking fee would have been had they initially decided to stay for more than four hours - and then to establish how they would have paid it had they chosen to do so (knowing full well there were no mechanisms for either). However, no more than a few seconds into the conversation when the Ops Manager - Gareth - who was most courteous and understanding, said, "If this is about a parking ticket - forget it - I will have it cancelled" He then took the relevant details - told me not to be concerned about any subsequent letters we may receive and assured me that there would be no further action.
He then apologised profusely for any inconvenience caused and asked me to pass on to friends and family that if anyone else wanted to stay for more than four hours whilst shopping to simply notify that fact to one of the information desks.
He totally agreed with me that in the present economic climate, stores had to do everything they could to encourage shoppers - not the opposite - which would have been another of my 'discussion' points had he not responded as positively as he did.
So - common sense prevailed - and without any of the hassle I thought I was about to enter into. I hope others will find this experience useful.0 -
